COUNTY LIBRARY ADDS CHILDREN'S EARLY LITERACY STATIONS
The Augusta County Library
has added two Early Literacy Stations (AWE) for children at the
Fishersville Library and one at the Churchville Branch. One of
the stations at the Fishersville Library offers early literacy
programs in Spanish. Juega en Espanol!
Designed for ages two
to eight, each computer station is packed with top rated developmental
programs using an imaginative interface that encourages exploration.
The color-coded keyboard
is designed for learning and the tiny mouse perfectly fits a child's
smaller hand. Twenty-six top rated education titles crossing all
curriculums are preloaded onto each Early Literacy Station.
Titles appealing to preschoolers
include Reader Rabbit Toddler, Stellaluna, The Cat in the Hat,
Millie's Math House, and Sammy's Science House.
School-age students will
enjoy these programs: Reader Rabbit Learn to Read with Phonics,
SpongeBob Square Pants Typing, Krazy ArtRoom, My Amazing Human
Body, USA Explorer, and My First Amazing History Explorer.
Three programs from the
award-winning PBS television series, Between the Lions, are included:
Waiter There's A Fly In My Soup, Shooting Stars, and Pandora's
Box.
All ages will enjoy Encarta
Kids 2006, Encarta Dictionary 2006, and Microsoft Paint.
The Early Literacy Stations
are available for use during normal library hours of operation.
