Banned Books Art Show   arrow

Call for artists!

You’re invited to participate in our first themed art show to be held at the Augusta County Library in Fishersville.

Theme: Banned Books

Do you support freedom of expression? What is your take on censorship. Is there a banned book that has left its mark on you? We want you to use this to inspire your art piece.

Dig around on the Banned Books Week website for more information on celebrating our freedom to read.

Rules and Guidelines

  • Artist must be 18+ and a resident of Augusta County, Staunton, or Waynesboro.
  • One original, ready-to-hang piece per artists.
  • We do have limited space, so we’ll try to accommodate oversize pieces in the best way possible.
  • We reserve the right to make final decisions regarding pieces.

A people’s choice winner will be crowned by public vote at the end of the month.

Entry Deadlines

Contact Sarah Skrobis at 540-885-3961 or submit your name online if interested in participating.

Entry form and read-to-hang artwork must be turned in to the Fishersville Main Library by 5:00 pm on Friday, August 29. (Please note the extended deadline.)

Opening Night

Join us for an opening reception at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, September 3 at our Fishersville Main Library. Live music and light refreshments provided. Artwork will remain up for the entire month of September, including the entirety of Banned Books Week.
