Patrons can obtain a free Valley Libraries Connection library card with identification showing photo and current address. This card can be used at any Augusta County, Staunton, and Waynesboro Public Library. Library cards are good for two years.
Library cards are free to all Virginia residents. Residents of other states may obtain a card with a refundable $25 deposit and may check out no more than two items at one time. Applicants must resolve any outstanding charges with any Valley Libraries Connection library before a new card can be issued.
All materials, except videos and DVDs, are checked out for three-weeks. Videocassettes and DVDs are checked out for one week. Items may be renewed once, unless reserved by another patron. In person, telephone, and online renewals are accepted.
There is a seven-day grace period before an overdue fine of $.10 per day is charged. Materials returned eight days or more overdue will accumulate fines beginning from the first day overdue. Staff will not inform patrons of fine totals of less than $2.00 unless requested.
Videocassettes and DVDs are checked out for one week and have a two-day grace period before a fine of $.10 per day is charged. A total of six DVDs and an unlimited number of videocassettes per card may be checked out at one time.
Interlibrary loan service is available to all patrons for print materials only. A fee of $5.00 is charged. Overdues are fined at the rate of $1.00 per day.
Materials may be returned to any Valley Connections Library or the bookdrop at the Government Center in Verona.
Augusta County Library permits children access to all materials in the system. If a parent or guardian desires to limit their child’s access to library materials or services, it is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to make this desire known to their child.
