POSITION: Librarian II – Adult Services

LOCATION: Augusta County Library, Fishersville, VA

DESCRIPTION: The Augusta County Library is seeking an enthusiastic, people-oriented professional librarian to head its Adult Services Department. The successful candidate must have strong collection development, public service, technology, and administrative skills. This position will have primary responsibility for providing library service to adults for a library system comprised of a main library, one branch, and three smaller stations. Job duties include collection development, reference and reader’s advisory service, outreach, programming, planning, and training staff and volunteers. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co-workers and community partners. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Library Director. Supervision is exercised over staff and volunteers.

REQUIREMENTS: Master’s in Library and Information Science from an ALA-accredited university and 3-5 years experience as a professional librarian with proven collection development, programming and planning expertise plus supervisory experience.

Library Assistant I

The Augusta County Library is seeking a people-oriented professional with a passion for customer service, community, and technology to serve as the Library Assistant I. This position will collaborate with senior staff to develop and teach computer classes, planning services to take the library into the community, and developing partnerships with community organizations. Duties also include assisting patrons at the public services desks and working at our other locations. Candidates must have any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate’s degree with considerable technology skills, experience in customer service and general library work. Candidates with Spanish language skills are encouraged to apply. This position is a full time, salaried position with County benefits and does require evening and Saturday hours. Library Station Manager

The County of Augusta has an opening for a part time Library Station Manager at the future Stuarts Draft Library Station. The right candidate will have strong people and customer service skills to develop positive working relationships with the public and coworkers. This position will assist patrons at the circulation desk and also with navigating computers, information resources and general library services. Duties include checking materials in and out through the library’s automated system, collecting fees and fines, and shelving books. High school diploma and computer skills required. This position will work 20 hours a week with an hourly rate of $11.01. This position does not have County benefits and does require nights and weekend work.
