Momma Goose Rhymes Summer 2009

Hello Song
(melody: London Bridge)
Hi, hello and how are you?
How are you, how are you?
Hi, hello and how are you?
How are you today?

To Market
(‘ride’ baby on knees or lap)
To market, to market
To buy a fat pig.
Home again, home again,
Jiggity jig.

Pease Porridge Hot
Pease porridge hot
Pease porridge cold
Pease porridge in the pot nine days old
Some like it hot
Some like it cold
Some like it in the pot nine days old

Jack and Jill

Jack and Jill went up a hill

To fetch a pail of water

Jack fell down and broke his crown

And Jill came tumbling after

Jack-in-the-box

"Jack-in-the-box,
You sit so still."
(Close hand, thumb inside.)
"Won't you come out?"
"Yes! I will!"
(Thumb jumps out.)

Up The Hill

(Use child's arm as the hill)
Here goes a turtle up the hill
Creepy, creepy, creepy.
(Walk fingers up slowly)
Here goes a rabbit up the hill
Boing, boing, boing.
(Make bunny ears and bounce up the arm)
Here goes an elephant up the hill
Thud, thud, thud.
Here goes a snake up the hill

Slither, slither, slither. (Use hour flat hand as a snake)

Here comes a rock down the hill (Bounce your fist down the child's arm)
boom, boom, boom.

CRASH! / (land fist in child's open palm)

A Frog

A frog in the pond am I, (Bounce baby on lap)

Hippity, hippity, hop.

And I can jump so high (Lift baby in air)

Hippity, hippity, hop.

Rub-a-dub-dub

Rub-a-dub dub

Who’s in the tub?

Little baby ________

Scrub, scrub, scrub!

Pitty Patty Polt

Pitty patty polt, (tap baby’s feet together)

Shoe the little colt

Here a nail, (tap one foot)

There a nail, (tap other foot)

Pitty patty polt, (tap baby’s feet together)

Doodle, Doodle, Doo

Doodle, doodle, doo,

The Princess lost her shoe:

Her Highness hopped,

The fiddler stopped,

Not knowing what to do!

I Eat My Peas With Honey

I eat my peas with honey

I’ve done it all my life

I know it may sound funny

But it keeps them on my knife

Say Say Oh Baby

(follow song’s directions)

Say, Say, Oh Baby,

Come here and clap with me

And bring your happy smile

Bounce on my lap so free.

Shake, shake your hands, now.

Shake, shake your bottom too.

And shake your tooties ten.

Let’s do it again.

Mother and Father and Uncle John

Mother and Father and Uncle John   (Bounce baby on knee)

Went to town, one by one.

Mother jumped off.                             (Lean to one side)

Father jumped on.                              (Lean to other side)

But Uncle John went on and on!        (Bounce baby on knee)

Catch a Wee Mouse

Round about, round about,

Catch a wee mouse

Up a bit, up a bit,

In a wee house

Round and Round the Garden

Round and round the Garden

Like a teddy bear

One step, two steps

And tickley under there!

Round and Round the Butter Dish

Round and round the butter dish

One, two, three

A little here, a little there

As tasty as can be

Hey Diddle Diddle

Hey diddle diddle

The cat and the fiddle

The cow jumped over the moon.

The little boy laughed to see such fun

And the dish ran away with the spoon!

Rooster Crows

One, Two, Three

Baby’s on my knee

Rooster crows

And away he goes

These are Babies Fingers

These are baby’s fingers

These are baby’s toes

This is baby’s belly button

Round and round it goes

I Put My Arms Up High

(To the tune of farmer in the dell)

I put my arms up high

I put my arms down low

I put my arms out to the side

And then I let them go

Mary Had a Little Lamb

Mary had a little lamb

Mary had a little lamb

Its fleece was white as snow

It followed her to school one day

It followed her to school one day

Which was against the rules

Rain on the Rooftops

Rain on the rooftops

Rain on the tree

Rain on the green grass

But not on me

Rigadoon

Rigadoon, Rigadoon                                       (Bounce baby on knees)

Gallop up high

Out of the saddle

And rolling on by.

Rigadoon, Rigadoon

Now let you fly,

Sit on your mother’s knee

Jump up high.

Rain Is Falling Down

Rain is falling down-splash

Rain is falling down-splash

Pitter patter pitter patter

Rain is falling down-splash

Sun is peeking out-peek!

Sun is peeking out-peek!

Peeking here

Peeking there

Sun is peeking out-peek!

This is My Garden

This is my garden

I’ll rake it with care

And some flower seeds

I will plant there.

The sun will shine

And the rain will fall

And my garden will grow

Straight and tall.

The Bee

The bee loves his pretty flower

He visits every day

He gathers nectar for honey

Than he flies away
