COVID-19 Testing Information

COVID-19 Testing Information

The health department is offering free COVID-19 testing Monday-Friday from 8 am – 4 pm at the Augusta County Government Center, for people who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms and/or have had a COVID-19 exposure. Appointments are preferred and can be made online or by calling 1-800-635-8611.

The Virginia Department of Health has encountered some new supply chain challenges for the take-home COVID-19 Test Kits. Our shipments are delayed indefinitely and we don’t have an estimate as to when shipments will resume. We apologize for the inconvenience and understand how frustrating it is to not have access to testing when you need it. Therefore, we have compiled some information below for those who need access to COVID-19 testing:

The Virginia Department of Health has information on COVID-19 testing, including information about testing sites in the area. The VDH recommends that you call ahead before visiting any of these testing sites, as tests or appointments may be limited.

You may also contact the VDH call center with any questions at 877-ASK-VDH3 (877-275-8343).

Labcorp, while not affiliated with the VDH, also provides information on their website about their available COVID-19 testing options

You can now order free COVID-19 tests ahead of time through the federal government. Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order four (4) free, at-home COVID-19 tests. The tests are completely free. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days. There is also a phone helpline for those without internet access: 800-232-0233.

If you have a COVID-19 exposure or develop COVID-19 symptoms and have a primary care provider (PCP), contacting your PCP for guidance and information about testing is also recommended.
