Library Owned Signs
The primary purpose of any Augusta County Library electronic and message signs is to promote Library programs and services. The Library Director and Board of Trustees reserve the right to deny the use of any Library owned sign, alter the contents and design of information, and pull and post messages as they see fit.
Since the electronic sign at the Churchville Branch Library was originally a joint project with the Churchville Elementary School and funded by the Pasture’s infrastructure budget that sign will be available to promote Augusta County Public Schools events plus other events and announcements sponsored by other Augusta County governmental departments units.
All Library owned outdoor signs shall adhere to all County of Augusta Sign Bylaws.
Messages posted on Library signs will be displayed for a maximum of 10 days prior to the program or event date and then will be deleted. Messages must be submitted to the library in writing to the library staff. (See attached form).
Messages that are displayed may promote special or signature events for the Augusta County government departments, which benefit the community as a whole, with the approval of the Library Director or Board of Trustees.
No Library owned outdoor sign may be used to promote or advertise meetings and events taking place in a library’s meeting spaces that are not sponsored by the Library. Library signs are not available for the promotion of or advertising of private businesses, non-profit or other organizations, or for the sale of goods and services. Library signs will not be used for political campaigns.
Signs not belonging to or created by the Library and posted on Library property must be approved by the Library Director or Board of Trustees. The Director and the Board have the right to deny any outside groups’ signage requests based upon the Library Community Bulletin Board Policy. Political signs, signs promoting private businesses, or for the sale of goods and services will not be allowed on Library property.
Signs can be displayed for a maximum of 10 days prior to the program or event date and then shall be removed by the person or group responsible for placing the sign.
